Ever get to the end of a set and realize you’ve forgotten half of what happened? What makes some moments stick while others disappear? And how do we hold onto all that good stuff while still staying present in the scene?
In this class, we’ll explore how to create memorable content, notice the details and choices that matter, and hold onto them as a set unfolds. We’ll put our memories to the test in longer sets and learn how to bring back what came before to create satisfying callbacks, connections, and payoffs.
Because the best sets don’t just give us things to remember—they use those memories to create something worth remembering.
Dates: The class runs Sundays, starting 11/15/2026 and running for 4 weeks with a one week break during the week of Thanksgiving.
Instructor: Sam Rizzo
Sam Rizzo jumped headfirst into improv at the Coalition Theater after seeing a 501 showcase in 2024 and has been voraciously consuming improv (and Diet Pepsi) ever since. You can see Sam put his improv skills to use on the house team My Gentleman Caller! In his spare time, Sam likes to challenge himself with board games, piano, and mathematics.
Prerequisites: Improv 101 and 201, or equivalent classes at a comparable institution. Email info@rvacomedy.com with questions.
Cost: $135 (Early Bird: $115)
